Dear Readers,
The weather in NYC has just been sheer perfection and it’s about time, if you ask me. Now, in other news, I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned it, but I love Jeanne Damas. She’s the embodiment of French style being France’s very own it-girl and, honestly, it’s unsurprising. At just 24, she’s managed to build a name for herself as a model, actress, and designer, establishing her own company Rouje.
You’ll frequently see Jeanne wearing espadrilles and a wrap-dress, carrying a basket.
Everything about this outfit is timeless, making it a classic look: the espadrilles, the basket– THE BASKET,– and the dress. You can’t go wrong with this outfit and, much to my chagrin, it’s super easy to replicate.

The Dress
My wrap dress is vintage, aka it’s an old dress I found in the back of my sister’s closet. The company is Paper Doll and I have no idea where we bought it. However, here are several wrap dresses all of which channel Jeanne.
The first dress is from ASOS, the second is from H&M, and the third is sold by none other than Jeanne Damas via Rouje.
The Shoes
My espadrilles are from Castaner, which are a bit pricey at $110. However, for a shoe that’s going to last me for years and be worn nearly every day, I think it was worth it. (they were also a gift, shout out to my nona) Zara also sells espadrilles as well! They’re the beige pair pictured here, whereas the Castaner are black.
The Basket
I’m currently using an actually basket that I bought from target years ago. Yes, an actual basket. Listen, it works. However, Zara and J.Crew are killing it in the basket bag market. You can buy the first bag here, the second leafy one here, and the third J.crew masterpiece here.
How to Spend the Day
How does one spend the day then after they’re dressed to Jeanne Damas perfection? Have a picnic, clearly. Make some chicken and gruyere crepes, recipe here, have a glass of white wine, play some Glenn Miller, and enjoy the summer night skies.
Much Love,
Evgenia
